One of the joys of living where I do is the number of truly fabulous buildings around. From the many and varied country houses out in the rural ‘sticks’, which give the country it’s name as being known for perfection in the shires, through to modern villas on the outskirts of most towns. There is also oneparticular building that is so nationally iconic that there is a waiting list for coach parties to visit – it is so popular, but also absolutely tiny, and therefore can only accommodate 12 or so folk visiting at any one time.
The house was bought by a manufacturing man and he just happened to be very good friends with one of the country’s top artist and designers of the day with a well earned reputation for being the absolute pinnacle in art deco of the day. The house today reflects his talent and is a shrine for many a student.
