RAR armchair Fiberglass upholstered Charles Eames 1950

Inspired by Charles Ray Eames

RAR armchair Fiberglass upholstered Charles Eames 1950

In the early 1940, Charles & Ray Eames had the opportunity to develop new methods of molding / bending for the U.S. Navy during the World War II. They applied these techniques to their furniture design.
Thus were born chairs and plastic armchairs by Charles & Ray Eames at the end 1940's.

These models were showed to the public for the first time in the "low cost furniture design" contest organized by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The shell is made of molded plastic with organic and fluid lines. It was coupled with different feet, as the RAR rocking chair which has been a huge success. The chairs are durable performers in many environments.
